Obituary:

Death of Mrs. Ager.

Ann Forbes was born in County Tyronne, Ireland, July 15, 1813. She was the eighth child of a family of 13 and outlived them all except the youngest daughter, Mrs. Beatty of Keosauqua. When five years of age she with her father's family, moved to Franklin county, Pennsylvania. After a few years they again moved to Carroll county, Ohio, where her father died. In 1836 she married John J. Ager. To them were born eight children, nine grand children and twelve great grand children. Of her children living are Mrs. J.M. Hootman of Mt. Zion, James A. and Albert H. Ager of Bentonsport. Her husband died in 1852, in Ohio. Her relatives all being in Iowa, she moved to near Mt. Zion in 1857. A little over two years ago she with her son Albert moved to Bentonsport where she died at 11 p.m., March 23, 1898, taking sick on the morning of the day of her death, being in her 85th years. She was converting at the age of 16 and united with the Presbyterian church in Ohio when 18 years of age. She was one of the first members of the Presbyterian church at Mt. Zion. She loved the church attending preaching service the last Sabbath she spent on earth. It is unnecessary to say to those who knew her that she was a consistent follower of her Master. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. McElhaney of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. Thornley of Bentonsport and Rev. Daily of Mt. Zion.
