George Wesley Underwood was born near Lovington, Illinois March 21, 1876. He parted this life January 4, 1956, 12:30 a.m. at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 12 days.
He moved with his family at the age of 9 years to Gainsville, Texas. In 1896 they moved to Rocky, Okla.
In 1901, March 24, he was united in marriage with Ethel Bowles of Wildwood, Oklahoma.
To this union were born six children: Viola Underwood, who preceded him in death in 1902. Orval Underwood, who preceded him in death in 1934, Harry Underwood, North Pole, Alaska, Paul Underwood, Ulysses, Kansas, Mrs. Velma Minatree, Stockton, California, Harvey Underwood, of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was a pioneer of Roger Mills County having filed on 160 acres north of Cheyenne in 1903.
Bro. Underwood obeyed the gospel about 1913 at Rocky, Oklahoma. He has been faithful to his convictions, a good community worker and neighbor.
He leaves to mourn his passing his immediate family, his wife, three sons, one daughter, 2 great grandchildren, one brother, Perry Underwood, Grass Valley, California and one sister, Mrs. Netty Watson, Rocky, Okla., and many friends.
