Funeral services were held October 7, 1970, in the Cheyenne Church of Christ with Raymond Duncan, minister, officiating. Ethel Mozelle Underwood, Cheyenne, Oklahoma died October 5, 1970 in Elk City, Oklahoma. She was born October 15, 1883 at Mulvane, Kansas to Andrews Francis Bowles and Mary Jane Malernee Bowles. She was united in marriage to George W. Underwood in Oklahoma. She came to Rocky, Oklahoma in 1901 and spent most of her life in Roger Mills County. Survivors include: her daughter, Velma Gladys Minatre, Felton, California; and three sons, Harry Underwood of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Paul W. Underwood, of Dodge City, Kansas; and Francis H. Underwood, of Fort Woth, Texas, one sister, Retta May Wright, Fairview, Oklahoma; two brothers, Roy Bowles, Wismister, California; Forrest W. Bowles, of Fairview, Oklahoma; and one half brother, Elbert Bowles, Ames, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Burial was in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Russell McClellan, Harold Beals, George Wright, Fred Aderhold, Arthur Carey and Glenn Kendall as pallbearers.
