"Samuel Perrin came from Connecticut with his father, Zachariah, in 1787, and was among the very first settlers in Berlin, VT. He married Sarah Reed, who bore him fourteen children, seven of whom are living. Mr. Perrin has taken an active part in the political affairs of the town."

Samuel was an uncle of the famous American war hero, Admiral George Dewey, who was most well known for the battle with the Spanish fleet in Manila Bay during the Spanish American War, sinking all 8 Spanish ships, while sustaining very little damage to his own ships, no dead and only 8 wounded.
