WALTER JAMROGA - a lifetime resident of Stamford, died at Danbury Hospital on May 30, 2007. He was predeceased by Helen (Deceased), his beloved wife of over 60 years.

Much of his early life was spent working on the family dairy and produce farm. He was an active member of the Belltown Fire Department, as well as a sport's enthusiast playing on several area teams during the 30's. After graduating from Stamford High School in 1932, he worked on a dairy farm, an estate, which today is The Sterling Farms Golf Course.

During the 40's and 50's, Walter worked on several estates in the area as a gardener. In 1961 he started his own landscaping business in which he was actively involved for over 45 years. He held a degree in landscape design along with a Master Gardener's Degree from The Bronx Botanical Gardens. His love for horticulture and vast knowledge of the subject made him a sought after speaker at the garden clubs of Fairfield County. He served on the Board of the Fairfield County Nurserymen's Association and was involved with the Fairfield County Extension Service. Much of his spare time was spent helping friends and family with gardening problems.

One of his great loves was the Amish Country as he took many trips with his wife and family to that area of the country. He enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit and Pinochle with family and friends, watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles and he was an avid reader. He could be found in the midst of reading several books at one time. He was an attendee at Harvest Time Church in Greenwich Conn.

His last year was spent at the Laurel Ridge Nursing Facility in Ridgefield Conn. His positive attitude, great smile, and zest for life were a tremendous blessing to all with whom he came in contact.

He is survived by his son Walter Jamroga, Jr. and wife Lore, son Ronald Jamroga, a daughter Carole Jamroga-Valenti, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three brothers John Joseph "JJ" Jamroga (1927-2014), Edward "Eddie" Jamroga, and Theodore "Teddy" Jamroga and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive callers from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home on Summer Street in Stamford. A funeral service will be held at Gallagher's on Monday, June 4th at 10 a.m. with burial following at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
