We are called upon to chronicle the sad and untimely death of Thomas J. Morris, who resided at Stump Grove, two and one half miles northeast of this village for some time past. While returning home from the village last Saturday evening the team became frightened and ran away, throwing him from the vehicle. He was found at 11:30 pm on the roadside by V. Rodham, R. Jackson and R. Dower who picked him up and carried him to his home near by. The medical assistance of Dr. C.C. Gratiot was summoned immediately who pronounced his injuries fatal. He lingered in painful agony till death relieved him at 2:25 pm Tuesday.
He leaves an aged mother, one brother, R. E. Morris, of Black Hawk, Colorado, two sisters, Mrs. E.D. Quinn, who has resided with him, and Mrs. James McGinn and numerous other relatives to mourn his loss.
The funeral will take place Friday at 10:30 am. The deceased was born at Caven, Ireland, March 4, 1836, and was therefore 51 years, 5 months and 26 days old at the time of his death.
