Enlisted on 30 Sep 1861, as a Sergeant, in Company L, 9th Infantry Regiment for New Jersey. Served for the Union State. Demoted to Full Private on 17 Nov 1862 and transferred to Company C. Promoted to Full Corporal on 16 Jan 1863. Re-enlisted on 18 Jan 1864. Died on 7 Aug 1864 at Andersonville, GA of disease as a POW at Camp Sumter Prison. Mustered out on 07 Aug 1864 at Andersonville, GA. Buried at Camp Sumter Prison in Andersonville GA., grave #4998.
