Everything possible was done to curb the disease, the authorities being hampered, as in other sections, by the lack of physicians and nurses.
Among the deaths in the immediate area of Au Sable Forks, was reported to be Mrs. Medie LaBombard, wife of Fred LaBombard, who died Monday, October 21, 1918, following the death of her daughter, Amy, which occurred on the Friday before.
The case was a particularly sad one, as the entire family was afflicted. Two other members of the family were reported in a precarious condition and were removed from the strickened household to the residence of Edward W. Featherston.
