Married (2) William R. Wigal.
Almeda Goff was born February 18, 1849, at Spencer, W.Va., the daughter of William R. and Sarah Bush Goff, pioneer settlers of Roane County. She was one of a family of fifteen children, all, except three, having preceded her in death; one sister, Mrs. Edward Hovey, Liverpool, W.Va., and two brothers, L.S. Goff, Spencer, W.Va., and M. K. Goff, Pittsburgh, Pa.
On November 9, 1869, she was united in marriage to Alfred Somerville of Wirt County, who died on December 4, 1887. To this union was born eight children, five daughters and three sons, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. Colin Campbell, Sandyville, W.Va., Mrs. E.H. Davison, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. R.G. Craig, Havana, Cuba; Mrs. Delmar Broney, and Mrs. Dudley Powell, Parkersburg, W.Va.; W. Everett, J. Brinton, and Charles W. Somerville of Palestine, W.Va.
On March 20, 1898, she was united in marriage to William R. Wigal, who survives her. In 1867, she united with the M.E. Church, South and continued an active member through 69 years of useful Christian life. She had the faith of the olden prophets, and was a wonderful help and inspiration to her church, her family and her friends.
She was known as Aunt Allie to a host of friends, all of whom will sadly miss her bright, happy face and many kind words of encouragement and advice at her home in Parkersburg. On February 4th, 1936, she quietly closed her eyes, as though going to sleep, and so passed on to be with The Savior she had loved and served so long, and the many friends and loved ones waiting there to greet her. She leaves many aching hearts behind but the world has been made better for her having lived.
