Zowa LaCrosse Powell wanted to do something to repay a generous fate by helping servicemen and veterans. Three of her sons joined 3 different branches of the Arm Forces during World War 2. One was in the Air Foare, one the Navy and one the Army. Her 4th son was a F.B.I. agent during the war. They all came back safe and sound, she was so grateful that she joined the Jefferson County of American War Mothers and began doing volunteer work at Veterans Hospital and the Fort Knox Service Club. She became the the chapter president untill she became ill. She received many honors on her vulunteer work. To me she was the backbone of the family. With all she did for our miltary men and women I still see my grandma in her apron in the kitchen teaching me how to cook and telling me stories of the family. One very special lady.
