J.A. McDONALD IS BURIED AT CUERO TODAY
Mrs. McDonald Died of Injuries Sunday, Buried on Monday.
TWO CHARGES ARE FILED
Negro Held for Negligent Homicide, Aggravated Assault.

Funeral services for J.A. McDonald 76, prominent retired Cuero farmer, who was fatally injured in a
collision with a carload of negroes at Nursery Friday, were held at Cuero this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
He died at a local hospital Monday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock.
Mrs. Cecilla McDonald, 76, wife of Mr. McDonald, who also was injured in the accident, died at 5:30
o'clock Sunday morning and was buried at Cuero Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
A charge of negligent homicide has been filed against Lewis Pinkard, 34, Corpus Christi nego, as a
result of Mrs. McDonald's death, while an aggravated assault charge Monday had been filed in connection
with Mr. McDonald's injury. No further action has been taken since Mr. McDonald died. The negro has
been released on $500 and $300 bond in the two cases.
Services for both were held from the Freund Funeral Home and interment was in the Hillside Cemetery.
Rev. W.A. McLeod, paston of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. The rites were largely attended and
there were numerous lovely floral tributes.
Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Myrtle Phillips of Garwood, Mrs. Ruth Thigpen of Pasadena, Mrs.
Gladys Yeary of Houston, Mrs. Lou Laster of Cuero, Mrs. Laura Mae Williams of Jourdanton, Albert
McDonald of Houston and James McDonald of New Orleans.
Mr. McDonald also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Williams of San Antonio and Mrs. Sarah Collins
of Houston, and three brothers, H.F. McDonald of San Antonio, J.B. McDonald of Victoria and J.W.
McDonald of Edna. Mrs. McDonald leaves one brother, Walter LeGalley of Cuero, and two sisters, Mrs.
Olivia Meyers and Mrs. Elizabeth Dow, also of Cuero.
