PEEL, Mary Emaline BERRY - Died: At her home in Bentonville, Ark. Dec. 23rd, Mary Emaline Peel {nee Berry}, age 67 years, 10 months and 9 days. The deceased was the wife of ex-Congressman S.W. Peel, and a sister of U.S. Senator James H. Berry. She was born in Alabama Feb. 14th, 1835 daughter of James McFerrin Berry and Isabella Jane Orr.
Moved with her parents to Carrollton, Carroll Co. when 14 years of age and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In this community she lived and labored faithfully and efficiently until death.
She was married to Samuel West Peel on January 30, 1853. To them were born nine children, three sons and six daughters, all living except the oldest son, J.M. Peel, who died 10 years ago. There are thirty—four grandchildren living and two dead. When the end came there were present with her of the children, Mrs. J.W. Vance of Pierce City, Mo., Mrs. W.E. Anderson of Houston, Texas, Mrs. W.L. Peters of Chickasha, I.T., Mrs. L.H. McGill, Mrs. Fannie Clark, D.W. and F.W. Peel of Bentonville. Mrs. Preston Davis of Vinita, I.T. did not arrive until the hour of the funeral.
