Joe was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a truck driver for forty years and was a member of Teamsters Union, Local 251. A member of the Knights of Columbus for 27 years, he had the longest tenure as Senior Grand Knight in the State of RI. He was a Past President of the Holy Name Society of Holy Ghost Church in Providence.
Joe is survived by his wife, Anna F. (Proia) Amitrano, whom he married in 1947; his daughter, Lori Salvadore and her husband, David; two grandchildren, Joseph Salvadore and his wife, Francesca, and Lorin Salvadore and her fiancé, Justin Serafin; two sisters, Corrine Amitrano and Anna Antonelli. He was predeceased by his siblings, Carol, Louis, Vincent, Marie and Grace.
