Marvin Akridge, 69, a retired farmer of the Meadow Creek Community died at 7:05 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1981 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington after an extended illness. He was a member of the Millers Chapel United Methodist Church where he had served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher of the adult Sunday School class for some 38 years. He united in marriage to Miss Marie Peterson December 29, 1932. To this union two daughters and three sons were born: Clyde Akridge of Campbellsville, Route 5, Lottie Newcomb and Mrs. Mary Powers, both of Lexington, Damon Akridge of Hardinsburg, Ky., and Mr. Leslie Akridge of Springfield. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Beatrice Montgomery of Campbellsville, Route 5, Chester Akridge of Campbellsville, Route 6 and William Akridge of Louisville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David W. Fackler and the Rev. Don Gowin. Burial was at Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jess Wilkerson, Bob Johnson, Gus Wheeler, James Earl Smith, Clay Rogers and Ralph G.
