Camilo Delgado was a well-known figure in the history of radio and television in Puerto Rico. He began on the radio station WEMB in 1948 along with Camilo Fratichelli, and continued in that medium through the 1970’s. His beginnings on television were with the pioneering station Telemundo, where he was the first actor to do a live commercial. Camilo Delgado also worked in several soap operas for Telemundo. Delgado studied at the American Academy of the Dramatic Art during the 1960s and appeared on Broadway where he starred in Death Takes a Vacation, and Shakuntala, among others. He also appeared in the film Strangers in the City. He then returned to Puerto Rico and worked on several TV programs produced by Paquito Cordero and Mario Pabón. He also produced Despierta Puerto Rico, which was on the air for fourteen years.
