Funeral services for Richard Heaton, age 87, of 309 Park Street, Ogdensburg, will be held at Frary Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev F. James Shurtleff officiating. Calling hours will be held at Frary Funeral Home on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Richard passed away Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013 at his home.

Richard is survived by his two sons, Randy and his wife, Patricia, from Corning, NY and Rodney and his wife, Tracey, of Ogdensburg; a sister, Dorothy Douglas, of Ogdensburg; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a companion, Ethel Morse. He is predeceased by a son, Richard; three sisters, Mary Heaton, Margaret Gorthrope and Francis Spooner, a brother, Donald Heaton, and a grandson, Brandon.

Richard was born on July 26, 1925 in Ogdensburg, New York the son of Fredrick and Dora St. Denny Heaton. Mr. Heaton attended local schools in the area. He married Ethel Flemming at the Methodist Church in Heuvelton, NY in 1957. That marriage ended in divorce. Richard first went to work for Fred Shurtleff and then went on to work at St. Mary's Academy. He retired from Ogdensburg Free Academy school system in 1987 as a senior maintenance supervisor. Richard was a collector of many things and liked cats.
