MATTOON — Morris Eugene "Bud" Beals, 91, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on February 2, 2013 at Mattoon Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Burial with military rites to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Schilling Funeral Home on February 5, 2013.

Bud was born on August 29, 1921 in Mattoon, IL the son of Edward and Mary Etta (Webster) Beals. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Zeta Coy; Martha Johnson; Mildred Letner; Edna Davison and brother Marion Beals.

Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Widrig of Hinsdale, IL; son, Randall Beals of Cleveland, OH; sister, Bertie Hall of Mattoon; nephews, Rick (Dalena) Hall of Mattoon; Wendell "Woody" (Angie) Hall of Overland Park, KS and Phil Hall of Mattoon. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Bud served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Bud was a long time supporter of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a member of the Marshal Avenue Church.
