A cryptside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, in Belle Passi Memorial Mausoleum. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity Methodist Church in Salem.

Mr. Empey died Aug. 31 at age 88.

He was born July 11, 1907, in Delmond, Iowa. In 1930, he married Anna M. Alsman. He received a bachelor's degree from Linfield College and a master's degree in education from Western Oregon State College.

For 43 years, he was involved in education. He was director of education of McLaren School for Boys, superintendent of the Junction City School District and principal of Springfield, Pleasant Hill and Coburg high schools.

He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.

He lived in Hubbard and Woodburn for many years before retiring in 1972 and moving to Salem.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Donald of LaCrescenta, Calif., and Gordon of Portland; daughter, Darlene Wicks of Juneau, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
