A long-time Mingo County school teacher, Mrs. Lillian (Duty) McCoy, 63, of Nolan was taken by death last night at 8 o'clock in the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital (South Williamson, Kentucky).
Mrs. McCoy taught in Mingo County schools for 30 years after graduating from Morris Harvey College in Charleston. She had been ill with an incurable malignancy for quite some time.
A member of the Nolan Free Will Baptist Church, she was born June 18, 1904, in Williamson, and was the daughter of the late Isom and Alice Fletcher Duty.
Survivors include her husband James Freeland McCoy, a sister Mrs. Tina Duty Alley of Borderland, and two brothers, Isaac "Doc" Duty of Delbarton and Claud Duty of North Lewisburg, Ohio.
