Elvin "Jack" Mearl Adams, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Nampa, Idaho at the age of 89.

Born February 22, 1923 to Alanson and Nancy (Draine) Adams in Nampa, he was one of 22 children including step, half and full brothers and sisters. He grew up in "Alfalfa" outside of Bend, Oregon.

In California, in 1941, Jack married Myrna "Faye" Norwood. He worked in the shipyards in California. He later moved to Oregon where he joined the Air Force in 1943. In 1947 he worked as a policeman in Prineville.

The family moved to Klamath Falls in 1949 where he worked for Mountain States Power Company as a lineman. He later transferred to Springfield where the company later became Pacific Power and Light.

Around 1955, recovering from a severe electrical shock as a lineman, Jack continued his education and worked his way up in the company. After many transfers and promotions he retired in Medford, Oregon in 1983 as District Manager.

Prior to retiring, he was divorced and later married Iva Dewhurst in 1981. After he retired they moved to Bend where he volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels for 18 years.

Jack was active in Rotary and real estate. They traveled coast to coast residing for several winters in Arizona. In 2005 they moved to Nampa, Idaho to be close to Iva's daughter.

Jack loved to go camping in his youth, play pinochle and golf. He also enjoyed creating and putting up decorations for Christmas. He will be remembered for his many jokes and stories, his beautiful blue eyes, his generosity to others, his faith in God and his love for his family.

Jack is survived by his wife, Iva; daughter, Darlene (Larry) Goates, of Springfield, OR; son, Harvey Adams, of LaPine, OR; stepdaughter, JoAnn (Gene) Koozer, of Nampa, ID; stepdaughter-in-law, Terry Dewhurst, of Hillsboro, OR; brothers, Paul (Verla) Adams, of Pocatello, ID and Carl Adams, of La Quinta, CA; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home, 105 NW Irving Ave., Bend, OR (541-382-2471) Graveside services will follow immediately.

Arrangements in Idaho have been provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300.
