Thelma Creel, 86, of Highlands was born September 13, 1926 in Midway, TX in Polk County and passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Baytown after a courageous nine year battle with cancer.
She was a graduate of Livingston High School, class of 1943. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was very dedicated to her family. She was a homemaker with many talents, a great cook, a seamstress, quilt maker, and loved to garden with her green thumb. She was a member of Faith Temple United Pentecostal Church and the Crafty Belles Group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Eula Adams; son, Mark Allan Creel; and brothers, J. C. Adams, Dick Adams, and R. D. Adams. She is survived by her husband of 67 wonderful years, Robert L. Creel of Highlands; children and their spouses, Sharon Biehle of St. Louis, MO, Dwayne and Patty Creel of Bryan, William and Cynthia Creel of Dayton, and Mary Creel of Atascocita; brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin Adams of Highlands and Winston and Mary Ann Adams of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Blake Spanier, Coady and Casey Creel, Blair Biehle, Hillary Armstrong, and Alex, Jana, and Mary Catherine Creel; and great grandchildren, Colin and Lila Creel and Randy Lynn Armstrong.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Orin Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands with Bobby Downing officiating. Honoring the family as pallbearers are Blake Spanier, Coady Creel, Casey Creel, Alex Creel, Gary Adams, and Kenny Adams.
