Obituary of Nellie Sergent

Nellie M. Sergent, was born July 20, 1872 and deceased this life July 2, 1953 at Whitesburg, Ky. She was the daughter of the late W. S. Vermillion and Arminta Vermillion. The greater part of her life has been spent in Letcher County.

In 1901 she was married to Willie W. Sergent who passed away in 1922.

To this union were born five children. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Estelle) Blair of Whitesburg, and Mrs. J. B. (Myrtle) Johnson of Dayton, Ohio and several grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

In March 1909 she joined the First Baptist Church, being a charter member of the church. For many years she was active in church work until ill health forced her into retirement.

Her faith in God never faltered and she trusted completely in him until the end.

Many of her last moments on earth were spent in communion with God, and she looked forward to meeting her savior.
