William A. Newkirk
Born August 27, 1921 in Buckland MO, passed away on January 30, 2013 in Running Springs CA, at the age of 91. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Patsy, his parents Oliver and Lorene Newkirk and 8 of his 11 siblings. He was the eldest of 12 children. Bill is survived by his daughters, Pamela Murphy and husband (Robert) of June Lake CA. Cynthia Newkirk of San Bernardino CA and by his son, Steven Newkirk and wife (Joanie) of Running Springs CA. Bill's grandsons, Christopher Murphy wife (Kimberly) Bryan Larson wife (Cara) and great grandchildren Caden Patrick, Cayley Patricia, and Bryce St. James; Dillon Newkirk wife (Anisa) and great granddaughter Allison Patricia; and Staff Sargent Bradley Newkirk. Bill is also survived by his brother John Newkirk and wife Janie of Arkansas, his sister Susie Eason of Florida; brother Orin Newkirk of Oregon; and brother Joe Hunt of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged March 7, 1946 as a Corporal Aerial Engineer in the 425th Army Air Force. He served with the 475th AAF Base Unit in the continental United States. Bill was Airman Second Class in Air Force Reserve from 1949 through 1953 where he was honorably discharged. Bill worked for the General Telephone Company for 30 years retiring as a supervisor in 1983, and enjoyed 30 years of retirement before his passing. Private Interment will take place at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton. A Celebration of His Life Luncheon will be hosted by his children on February 23rd for family and friends.
