Othel James, 66, son of Ora M. James and Florence Nelson James, was born Jan 12, 1933 at Montauk. He died Sept 11, 1999, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He married Iris Maxey Aug 11, 1955. They had three children.

Mr. James served in the Korean War from March 5, 1953 to Feb 25, 1955 in the medical corps. He was awarded the American Occupation Medal, the DSM Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a truck driver for Houston Redi-Mix, hauling and delivering cement. He was a coon hunter and fisherman. Mr. James was a member of Souls Harbor Family Worship.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lorn and an infant brother. Surviving are his wife of the home in Houston: one son, two daughters, four brothers, four sisters, and six grandchildren.

Services were Sept 14 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Leroy Maxey and the Rev Eugene Maxey officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
