FRANCES MIXSON WHITE

WACO - Frances Mixson White, 91, of Austin and formerly of San Angelo died
Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, in an Austin nursing center. Funeral service will be at
1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Doug Keenan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs.
White was born July 28, 1907, in Eddy to the late James Greene and Gertrude
Duke Mixson. She was raised in West. She attended and graduated from Baylor
University in 1929. She started her teaching career in the public school
systems of Texas and remained there until her retirement in San Angelo in 1965.
She married Aubrey Carmen White on Jan. 31, 1931, in Ardmore, Okla., and he
preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. White held memberships in the Order of the
Eastern Star Chapter No. 10 in San Angelo, Daughters of the Republic of Texas
and The President's Club at Baylor University. Until her move in 1996 to
Austin, she had been a member of the First Baptist Church of San Angelo since
1946. While in Austin, she was involved in the First Baptist Church of Austin
watchcare system. She was very proud of the fact that she and all of her
brothers and sisters were Baylor graduates, and they all married Baylor
graduates. She was an extensive reader and loved to correspond with her family.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Juanita Spencer
and one brother, Wendell H. Mixson. Survivors include her daughters, Eleanor
Davis of Waco and Mrs. Lester (Margaret) Eisenbeck of Austin; her son, James
Robert White of Boulder, Colo.; her brother, Gene H. Mixson of Midland; eight
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her grandsons will serve as
pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the A.C. White Scholarship Fund at Lake
View High School in San Angelo or James and Gertrude Duke Mixson Memorial
Scholarship Fund at Baylor University.
