John H. Bartgis' Rites Incomplete

HINTON (RNS) - John H. Bartgis, 78, died Sunday morning in a Beckley hospital after a long illness.

Born Feb. 12, 1896, in Hinton, he was a son of the late Lewis and Margaret Seldomridge Bartgis.

He was a lifelong resident of Hinton, was a retired employee of Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company, was a member of the Bellepoint Baptist Church, was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way.

Survivors include his wife, Lilliana Pack Bartgis; three sons, Billy M. of Richmond, Va.; Shannon B. Concord, Calif., and John H. Jr. of Falls Church, Va; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Adkins of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Joseph of Beckley; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Hedrick of Clarksburg and Mrs. Blanche Cook of Beverly Hills, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

The body is at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton.
