He moved to Ohio in 1823, here in 1832 he was married to Elizabeth Row(Rouch), Of this marriage were born three sons, and 2 daughters. In 1860 he moved to Walnut Grove Township, where he resided till the day of his death. Father Hageman was a grand man a devout christian, exemplifying his belief in his life. His death was a glorious victory. In the early June morning, after weeks of pain and agony, filled with prayer and praise to his god, his spirit slipped between the bars of pain and went to the rest of those who die in the lord. Funeral services were conducted under the shade trees in his yard, then borne by his own grandsons to the family burying ground where he was laid to rest. At the Lynn Grove Cemetary down the road where he lived on a hill side.

Donated by Bonnie Sutton Hayes 2007∼Jesse Hageman Sr. was born near Pottsville, Schylkill county Pa. Feb. 8, 1807, and died at his home two and one-half miles southwest of Walnut Grove, McDonough Co., Il, June 1, 1899 at the age of 92 years 8 months 24 days.
Father Hageman leave to mourn him two sons, and two daughters, three brothers twenty three grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and a large circle of friends and relatives.
In 1819 he moved to Columbia County, Tenn. and in 1823 he went to Wayne Co. Ohio. Here in 1832 he married to Elizabeth Row and to them were born three sons and two daughters.
In 1891 Mother Hageman left this world of sin and sorrow to await in Heaven the loved ones left behind. In early youth Father Hageman was converted and united with the Evangelical church. When he came to Illinois in the absence of the church
of his choice, he united with the M. E. Church. He was an affectionate man of God, a wise counselor, and a devoted Christian. His death was a glorious victory. The funeral was in charge of Rev. John Ferris of the M. E. Church. It was in held Friday at two o'clock pm in the beautiful grove in the yard of his late home, before a large assembly of friends and neighbors, and then the remains were conveyed to the cemetery near by the old house and laid away by six grandsons.sub: by Joyce Worthington Brewer
