Mrs. Ruth Butler, 65, widow of Oliver P. Butler of Farmington, died at 9 o'clock last night at the Atchison hospital where she had been a patient since June 3.
A resident of Cray Senior Manor since May 17, 1967, Mrs. Butler had previously been a patient at the hospital and Manor resident in 1966.
The former Ruth Dawdy and Oliver Pardee Butler, great grandson of Pardee Butler, pioneer Kansas preacher and abolitionist leader who was tarred and feathered by pro-slavery men and set afloat on a raft on the Missouri river here, were married at Lee's Summit, Mo., May 6, 1930.
They resided in the Farmington area most of their married life where Mr. Butler was a prominent farmer. He died Dec. 19, 1957.
Among Mrs. Butler's survivors is a son, Glenn Butler of the Effingham community.
The body is at the Stanton Mortuary where funeral arrangements are pending.
