Alverta Koser-McCracken, 91, of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2013, in Stein Hopsice Care Center after a lengthy illness.

She was a graduate of Tiffin Ohio Junior Home in 1938, and was a graduate of Sandusky Business College in 1939. She was employed as a secretary at Esmond Dairy and other area employers.

During her long and active life, Alverta enjoyed singing, dancing (ballroom and tap), playing piano (home and church), sewing, baking, cooking, teaching Sunday school and working with the elderly. She was an excellent homemaker and an unwavering advocate for her children, who fondly remember that she enjoyed "their music" as well as her own. Later in life, Alverta travelled extensively and although she knew little of baseball she became an informed and enthusiastic Cleveland Indians fan. Alverta was a very generous, kind and giving person. Alverta will be lovingly remembered as a great mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Tom) Brooks, of Sandusky, Jerry (Linda) Koser, of Munroe Falls, Ohio, and Greg (Lori), of Woodville, Ohio; her grandchildren, Britney (Patrick) Simone, Matthew Koser, Michael (Terra) Almendarez, Amy Chad) Brewer, Angela (Brian) Young, Linda Gardener, John (Becky) Koser, Vicki (Joe) Montgomery, Mark (Tracey) Koser and Douglas (Michelle) Koser and Travis Ross and Thomas Ross; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rosemarie (Henry) Baker; her brother, John Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
