Elizabeth J. Spainhower was born in Montgomery County, Illinois, March 5, 1838, and died at Denver, Missouri, February 14, 1914, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 9 days. At the age of 9 years, she came with her parents to Albany, where she lived with her father for a number of years, her mother having died soon after their arrival from Illinois. When she was 76 years old she united with the Christian church in Albany, under the ministry of Bro. Warner.

During her illness she was tenderly cared for by her sister, Mrs. Hurst, with whom she lived while in Denver. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Hurst, and three brothers, L.B. and J.R. Spainhower, of Albany, and J.W. Spainhower, of Denver, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. Her father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Anderson and two brothers, W.T. and R.H. Spainhower, have preceded her to the great beyond. The funeral was held in the Christian church at Denver, conducted by Rev. Leatherman, and attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Interment was at the Kent cemetery.
