HAYS - Irene F. Billinger, 72, died May 22, 1987, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Hays. Born Irene Ferron, Jan. 1, 1915, at Clifton, she married Bill Billinger June 7, 1937, at St. Joseph. She was a retired reading specialist teacher for USD 489 and a longtime resident of Hays; She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Ellis County Retired Teachers Association, Fort Hays State University Alumnus, and Ellis County Historical Society.
Survivors: husband, of the home; son, Thomas W„ San Clemente, Calif.; daughters, Billie Lynne Lantz, Eau Claire, Wis., Mary E. Billinger, United States Air Force, Shreveport, La.; brothers, Ovid J. Ferron, Vista, Calif., Ralph Ferron, Independence, Mo.; sisters, Effie Lapaille and Jean Glenn, both of Clyde; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, Father Earl Meyer. St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary rosary will be at 3:30 p.m., Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., Daughters of Isabella at 7:30 p.m., parish wake service will be at 8 p.m., all Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel, Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
Memorials may go to the Hospice of the Plains or St. Anthony Hospital Oncology Unit.
