Pauline Mostiller

Pauline Mostiller, of Live Oak Retirement Center of Shreveport, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Graveside services will be at 11am on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home Marshall Street.

Pauline was born May 24, 1919 near Bienville, LA. to Robert Joel and Frances Durrett Mostiller. Pauline graduated from Arcadia High School. She earned a B.A. degree from LA. Tech University and a M.A. degree from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. Pauline worked as a dietician for the North Louisiana Sanatorium. In 1943, Pauline enlisted in the United States Navy. She served in the Supply Corps after training in Boston, MA. Stations of service include Washington D.C., Cleveland, OH, San Francisco, CA, Charleston, S.C., and Chicago, IL. In 1979 Pauline retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the Supply Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Pauline worked for the Louisiana State Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency as a School Food Service supervisor until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Eloise Grigg, Geraldine Knight and Frances Gilbert and nephew, Carroll Gordy Jr. Survivors are brother-in law, Ray Gilbert, nieces Becky Grigg Ham and Kathleen Gilbert Buchanan. Nephews are Bill Gordy and Jim Gilbert. She is also survived by her grand-nieces she loved dearly-Marianne Hawkins, Margaret Barker, Mary Margaret Edmonson, Meredith Gilbert and Cori Beth Manuel.
