Before the age of 12, when I was growing up in the small town of Fairview, Richland Co, Montana, one at a time I'd had a handful of dogs, and every one of them died at an early age, run over by cars & killed.

The last one was a puppy I'd named Herb, and he was the last dog I had until, as a resident of Long Beach, Los Angeles Co, California, I connected with a small Miniature Schnauzer.

We named him Giacomo, and for 12 years he was a wonderful, loving companion. For four of those years he was my sole four-legged buddy, and then I got another 4-month old mini schnauzer that I named Valentino (1996-2008).

The two of them were buddies in their own right, and the three of us were as close as close could be.

It was with great sadness when he passed away, but he had other trails to explore, other experiences to enjoy, and he's now out there totally free & enjoying it all.
