William Engelking Jr.

William "Bill" Engelking Jr., 68, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his residence.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Assembly of God Church of Arkansas City, Kan. Pastor James Newman will officiate. Cremation has been effected.

Bill was born Sept. 30, 1944, in Newkirk, the son of William F. Engelking Sr., and Opal Fern Eastin Engelking.

He was reared and educated in Newkirk, graduating from Newkirk High School in 1962. Bill married Carrol Ames Hind on Oct. 6, 1984, in Winfield, Kan. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, Kan.

He was a longtime jet engine mechanic at G.E. Jet Engine Maintenance Facility at Strother Field, retiring in 2006. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, motorcycle riding and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherri and her husband, Shane Wood of McLoud, Dawn and her husband, Danny Waite of Broken Arrow; two sons, William F. "Sonny" Engelking III, of Newton, Kan. and Tim Hind of Ponca City; a sister, Ethel and her husband, Don Riggs of Ponca City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Ben Waite, brother-in-law, Delbert Blair and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial has been established with First Assembly of God Church of Arkansas City, Kan. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
