From the book The Hoxie Family - Three Centuries in America, pg. 3, the author writes of the first mention in the Sandwich Town Records of Lodowick when "William Bassett paid Lodowick Hoxie, for some service rendered the town, the sum of three shillings. Also, from Plymouth Colony records, among those who took the oath of fidelity in 1657, include Lodowick Hawkes."

pg. 4 of the same book suggests the year of 1661 when he probably became a convert to the Quaker faith, and "later records show beyond doubt that for at least sixty years all members of the family adhered to the Friends."

pg. 4 includes the last mention of Lodowick in the town records dated the 1st month, 1704 when a new Friends meeting house was being built and Lodowick was to "Diet the carpenter, for his share."

It is not known the exact date of birth or death for Lodowick or the year he came to America or exactly what country he came from.
