Czech Army Paratrooper and resistance fighter. He was a member of the Czech sabotage group Out Distance, a World War II anti-Nazi resistance group, and a participant in Operation Anthropoid, the successful mission to kill Reinhard Heydrich.

Together with six other parachutists ( Jan Kubis , Jozef Gabcík , Josef Bublik, Jaroslav Švarc , Jan Hruby and Josef Valcik), during and after the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich they hid in the crypt of the Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Prague. Lt. Opalka and his fellow paras fought it out in Prague before being overwhelmed. Lt. Opalka and WO Kubis were in the loft and were wounded during the firefight with the Wehrmacht Heer and Waffen-SS Troops during the siege at the church. As a last ditch effort, the remaining soldiers killed themselves instead of surrendering to the Nazis. They were betrayed by two of their own fellow soldiers, Sgt. Maj. Karel Curda and Cpl. Viliam Gerik.

Lt. Adolf Opalka (In the films he was referred to as 'Lt. Alois Kral') was played by Czech actor Jirí Krampol in the films 'Atentat' (1964) and 'Operation Daybreak' (1976).
