City Oilman G.T. Kimbell Dead at 75

George T. Kimbell, 75, of 4211 Lake Park Drive, a resident of Wichita Falls more than 40 years, died Friday night in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Arrangements are under direction of Hampton-Vaughan Funeral Home.
Kimbell was born April 19, 1901, in Pittsburg, Tex., and came to Wichita Falls in 1919, but lived in Burkburnett from 1922-36. He moved back to Wichita Falls in 1936.
Kimbell married Ruth Anderson Dec. 29, 1923. He was a member of Edgemere Church of Christ. He was a chairman of the board of directors of Wichita Falls Boy's Club and recipient of the Keystone Award. He owned a ranch in Australia and ranching interests in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.
Kimbell was founder of Burk Royalty Co. and a member of the board of directors of Kibo Compressor Co. and City National Bank. He was the first president of Wichita Falls United Fund and a member of Wichita Club and Wichita Falls Country Club. He was a member of advisory board of Woman's Forum and dealt with numerous organizations of the North Texas Oil & Gas Association.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son David of Wichita Falls; five sisters, Mrs. Hal Yeager, Mrs. John Costello, Mrs. Max Loyd and Mrs. Joe Deal, all of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Martin Erby of Wichita , Kan.; two brothers, Oscar of Miami, Fla., and Floyd of Wichita Falls; and three grandchildren.
