My beautiful grandmother, Emma, was born in Austria Hungary and came to this country in 1907 on the Hannover (left Germany on Jan 7-8). She arrived in Baltimore on Feb.3, 1907 with her mother. She is the daughter of Oscar Stuprich and Theresa Spielmann Stuprich. Emma had one sister, Regina and one brother, Oscar. My grandmother and grandfather, Christian Knudsen, had 2 children: Christian Stuart, my father, and Jane Astrid. She was naturalized in 1927 and was proud to be an American. Emma died just a few months before I was born. According to my mother, she was a wonderful cook, excellent seamstress and astute business woman.
