Rock Valley: Mrs. C. De Bruin, 79, died last Monday, May 7. She was a charter member of the local Christian Reformed Church, and had lived here for 55 years.

Anna Wassen was born in Noordeloos, Michigan on August 31, 1865.

On January 2, 1885, she married C. De Bruin at New Holland, S.D. The couple lived in Michigan a few years, and then came to Rock Valley. Five children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy.

The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on January 2, 1935 with their children and grandchildren.

On March 7, 1937, Mr. De Bruin passed away.

She is survived by four children, Leen of Hawthorne, New Jersey, Herman of Hawarden, Ed, and Tillie (Mrs. Herman Oldenkamp), both of Rock Valley.

Also eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, John Wassen of Artesia, California.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the Christian Reformed Church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were, Leen De Bruin of New Jersey, Herman De Bruin, Anna, Leona and Courtney of Hawarden: Mr. and Mrs. H. Doornbos of Leota, Minn., Mrs. L. Van Otterloo of Hancock, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Verburg of Sheldon. Leen De Bruin left for home on Friday afternoon.
