Aaron Griffin, living in the east part of town, 94 years of age, is probably the oldest citizen of our place. He recently came to this place from Blandinsville to pass the final years of life. He is hale and sound of mind, though bent of body. He was born in New York; had been a resident of Blandinsville for many years before coming to Macomb.

Mr. Griffing [sic], an aged gentleman, died at the residence of his son, just east of the corporation line, one day last week[.] His remains were taken to Blandinsville and buried. He was 94 yars old; was the step-father of Hon. S. B. Davis.~Based on the available records for Mr. Griffin's sons, the likely place of his death was the home of his son, Emerson, who farmed in HIre Township, McDonough County, for a number of years. The phrase "just east of the corporation line" referred to the county line between McDonough County and Hancock County, and Hire Township abuts Hancock County.
