Kate was born in Ireland in 1824. She married Patrick Fitzgerald about 1850 maybe in Maine. They had 8 children: Michael-1853(Maine), Thomas P. 1855/56, Margaret Agnes-1857 Ill., Mary Ann-1860-Mo., William-1863, James-1866, and twins Anna and Ellen-1869 They moved to Iowa and became part of the Irish community there farming. After Patrick's death in 1892 she went to live with her daughter in Melrose, until her death

MELROSE

Mrs. Fitzgerald passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Luttrell. She was an old resident of this place and was highly respected. She leaves four daughters and three sons and a host of friends to mourn her death. She died after an illness of a few days. The funeral services were held at North Cedar, Interment being made at the North Cedar Cemetery Friday.

Miss Margaret Rooney of Albia was called to this city Thursday to sing at the funeral Mrs. Fitzgerald.
