Mary McGalloway Abney Mary Abney, 79, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. She had battled a brief illness with lung cancer. She was born on December 2, 1931 in Fond du Lac, WI. Mary received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and was the President of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. She worked in Chicago before moving to San Francisco where she married and moved to Marin County, CA where she spent most of her adult life raising her children, and working as a private secretary. Her marriage to John Abney produced three children; Peter Abney, Haynes Abney (RajBhandary) and Timothy Abney. Mary was a dedicated volunteer driver with the American Cancer Society 's "Road to Recovery" program in both California and in Arizona. Mary took patients to and from treatments and doctors appointments. Later in life, she moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she has resided for the last 13 years. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and her family will remember her for her incredible generosity, her open-mindedness, love of all things artistic and theatrical, and her special love and care for her children and grandchild.She is survived by her son Peter Abney of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Haynes RajBhandary (husband Kiran), granddaughter Kira RajBhandary of Topanga Canyon, CA, and brother John Peter McGalloway, Jr. of Fond du Lac, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William, her former husband Jay, and son, Timothy.
