Catharine Clingman "Kay" Nov. 13, 1920 - Sept. 24, 2006 Former Resident of Concord Kay was reunited with her beloved husband, Lloyd, on September 24, 2006 with her children by her side. Born Catharine Farlow in Albert Lea, Minnesota and raised in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Iowa State Teachers College where she earned a BA in Education. While she was a freshman she met the love of her life, Lloyd, a sophomore from Cedar Falls, Iowa. During WWII Uncle Sam sent Lloyd overseas. While waiting for her soul mate's return, Kay finished her education and taught kindergarten. Immediately upon his return, they were married on June 25, 1944. After living their first year together in Lake Placid, NY, they returned to Chicago. They moved to Southern California in 1948. In 1962 the family moved to Contra Costa County primarily living in Concord. Kay moved to Pleasant Hill two and half years ago. Kay truly loved teaching kindergarten. Kay and Lloyd enjoyed travel and were deeply involved with their church. She also loved to sing and play the piano. She was a friendly, loving, outgoing woman who will be deeply missed. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Clingman on February 24, 2001 and is survived by her son Lloyd Robert 'Bob' Clingman (Karen), twin daughters Janine Hammel (Dan) and Joan Foster (Mike), brother David Farlow (Betty), her grandchildren Kevin Clingman (Kristina), Lisa Clingman, Laura Foster, Mira Foster and Michael Foster. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday. October 3, 2006 at 1:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Concord. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Feed the Children or Unity..
