Mr. Harris passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. He was a Clay County native who joined the U.S. Army at an early age. During his military career, Mr. Harris served two tours of duty in Vietnam and after 23 years of service retired in the grade of Staff Sergeant. His military awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm device. Mr. Harris was also a member of Bible Baptist Church in Sylacauga.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Harris of Goodwater; five daughters: Patricia Lee of Florida; Sharron Talbert of Kansas; Debra Smith (Larry) of Goodwater; Angela Bradford (Joby) of Alexander City; Kelly Waldrop (Joey) of Goodwater; five sons: Danny Harris and Timothy Harris of Kansas; Greg Williams (Phyllis) and Carl Williams of Goodwater; Andy Williams (Kim) of Sylacauga; two sisters: Frances Rogers and Susie Wilkinson, both of Ashland; two brothers: Walter Harris and Jube Perry Harris, also of Ashland, twenty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: R. L. (Rio Leslie) Harris and Bertha Dingler Harris plus two brothers: Robert John Harris and George Patrick "Pat" Harris. Aaron was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow church members.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Potts, Larry Smith, Jason McDaniel, David Coleman, Holden Lane and Gene Gooden. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Allen, Charles Stallings, Tim Brown, Chris Brown, Keith Maddox and Jeremy Posey.
