Gus came to America in 1900 at the age of 19. He dropped the family name of Johansson and took his middle name Alexander as his last name. His family arranged a marriage between himself and his cousin Hilma Karlson. They had 11 children. 2 children died at a young age and there were 2 miscarrages. Gus and his sons and daughter had a business called Alexander Parlor Frame. APF as we called the business was a sofa frame building business. The business was located on Western Ave, Chicago Illinois.
