BROWER, GRACE MAUDE

Grace Maude Brower of McKinney, Texas, and formerly of El Dorado, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the Settlers Ridge Nursing Center in Celina, Texas. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.

She was born July 18, 1908, in rural Burns, the daughter of Claude and Ressie (Fowler) Thomas. She attended schools in Burns and graduated from the Burns High School. She was united in marriage to Lyle Brower on June 4, 1928, in Burns. He preceded her in death in June 1976. During World War II she worked at Beech Aircraft. She was the original manager of Peter Pan Ice Cream. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Church Guild.

Survivors include: daughter, Joyce Simmons Thatcher of McKinney, Texas; sister, Claudine Goode of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Edwin Brower; one brother; and four sisters.

A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund. Kirby-Morris Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
