Ron was born on a farm near Germantown, Iowa the son of John & Ella Tesch Mesner. Ron was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown. In 1947 the family moved to a farm in Moulton Township, Murray County near Chandler, MN. Ron attended Chandler High School and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Iona, MN. After attending school, Ron farmed with his father. On September 13, 1958 he and Mary Alice Pool were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler. Following their marriage they continued to farm with Ron‘s father until they moved to a farm in Fenton Township, Murray County. In 1994 they moved to Slayton. Ron continued to help his son, Tom with his farming operation. Ron passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 76. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler until it closed in 2005. Ron had served on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council for several years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Ron also was a member of the Murray County Pork Producer's and served on the Murray County Fair Board. Over the years Ron participated in many sports including basketball, softball, and baseball even playing for the Hadley Buttermakers. Ron became an avid spectator of both local and national basketball, football and baseball teams as well as any other sport that included a ball. He also enjoyed a good round of golf.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Mesner, three children and their spouses, Thomas (Mary J.) Mesner, Robin (Wes) Hofkamp, and Lisa Mesner.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Harlin Mesner & sister, Betty Fiddelke.

Funeral services were held from Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, on February 11, 2013 with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.
