This monument commemorates the Indiana Regiments who fought at the Battle of Gettysburg. On July 1, 1971, the new twenty-eight thousand pound monument was dedicated. It is located in Spangler’s Meadow in an area where the 27th Indiana took massive casualties. The monument is made from Bedford, Indiana, limestone and “consists of two ten-foot high pylons soaring on either side of the die.” It also includes a walkway and benches.
