Herbert Missamore, who lived to be 82, was born in Granite Hill (the historic name of Gold Hill), California. June 5, 1917, Herbert, age 29, registered for the military draft in Taft, California, having a wife and three children. He had worked several years as a carpenter for an oil company in Taft. At that time, he had also completed one year of Infantry service as a Private in the California National Guard.
He eventually became the father of one stepson, Lloyd Baker, and six biological children: Herbert Burger Missamore, Wendal/Wendell Missamore, Beverly Missamore, Laverne Missamore, Ellwood Missamore, Jack Missamore, and Jerry Missamore by 1940.

It is expected that Lafayette Missamore and Laura Anable, wed December 20, 1887 in Placerville, El Dorado County, California will prove to be Herbert's parents.
