CASTLEWOOD- Walter Jackson Meade, 77, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the home of his daughter. He was born in Russell County, Va., son of the late Emmit and Louvirgie Porter Meade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Meade. He is survived by five daughters, Georgia Halloway and husband, Donald of Maryland, Betty Hall and husband Kenneth of Broken Arrow, Okla., Terry Austin and husband Bobby of Broken Arrow, Pearl Meade and husband Tommy of Castlewood and Connie Stanley and husband Gene of Castlewood; five sisters, Gladys Harvey of Bristol Virginia, Allene Brooks of Bristol Virginia, Shirley Bates of Coeburn, Louvedia "Beaty" Jessee of Castlewood and Gaye Hartsock of Castlewood; 11 grandchildren; eight great grand children; and several nieces and nephews.

Walt's grandfather (on his father's side) was Archer Meade (97610581) and his grandmother was Katie Castle. Archer and Katie were married on May 25, 1899. Archer Meade was the son of Nathan and Mary Jessee Meade and Katie was the daughter of Jacob Castle (51516401)and Lucinda Culbertson Castle (51516402.)
Emmett and Lou Virgie Porter Meade were Walt's parents and in addition to siblings noted above, Walt had three brothers, Nath, Robert and Charlie, Jr. Walt's father, Emmett M. Meade, was born in 1901, Cooper Creek, Russell Co, Va.
Walt's remains lie in the W. A. Austin Cemetery along with those of his aunt, Martha Ellen Meade Austin (half sister of Emmett, both she and Emmett were children of Archer Meade) and her husband, William Aston Austin for whom the cemetery was named.
